• Prof. Balunywa meets delegation from the Conventry University (U.K)

Prof. Balunywa, on July 10, 2013 met with a team from the Conventry University in the United Kingdom discussing the possibilities of collaborating to offer degrees in oil, gas and energy management. The Conventry University team constituted Philip Goddard, the Academic Partnership Manager, Dr. Nigel Trodd, the Associate Head of Department of Geography and Dr. Babatunde Anifowose a Senior Lecturer.Conventry is more than 150 years old with over 15,000 students.  They run a variety of programmes outside the U.K and in Africa. They have a presence in Ghana and Tanzania.

MUBS has already been in discussions with other universities in the possibility of collaborating on Oil and Gas. MUBS has already won a grant from NORHED and will be starting in Master’s degree in Energy Economics. This degree will build MUBS capacity to do undergraduate programmes in oil, gas and energy management courses. Prof. Balunywa said that he was excited at the prospect of starting an undergraduate degree to create Human resource for the sector. He remarked that the oil sector has numerous multiplier effects in different sectors in the economy and that it is good for the country to prepare now before the actual oil started flowing.
