“Invest money to develop leadership.” This was said by the Vice Chancellor of Mutesa 1 Royal University, Prof. Arthur Sserwanga during the 6th Annual International Leadership Conference at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation Conference Centre, today July 23, 2015. He said that managers are managing leadership positions because, a number of people confuse leadership with management which eventually leads to collapse of different organizations due to the drawing away from their visions. The conference that started on July 22, 2015 and will end on July 25, 2015 is organized under the theme: “Poverty Dilemma: The Role of Leadership” by the MUBS Leadership Centre.
Prof. Sserwanga further said that, “the ability to share and inspire the vision of a leader is lacking in Uganda which is one of the causes of the leadership wrangles in different positions and organizations.
He uplauded MUBS for the good leadership training it gave him for the twenty (20) years he spent in the Business School, saying that it is through this training that he was appreciated by the Kabaka of Buganda to take on the job of Vice Chancellorship at his University. He appreciated Prof. Waswa Balunywa for his leadership style which has nurtured two Vice Chancellors from MUBS. That is Dr. Stephen Isabalija; Vice Chancellor; Victoria University and himself (Prof. Sserwanga).
