STUDENTS DISMISSED FROM UNIVERSITY OVER CHEATING

Two students have been dismissed from Makerere University after being found guilty of Examination Malpractices by the Makerere University Business School Examinations Irregularities Committee.
In a letter dated November 21, 2019, the Makerere University Senate Policy and Appeals Committee upheld MUBS’ decision to dismiss Kathleen Ann Namiiro a student of Business Administration and Joseph Walusimbi pursing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. The two contravened with Rule 3 (d) of the University Rules and Examination Malpractices and Irregularities which states ” It shall be an offense for any student involved in an examination to carry out a conversation or any other communication with another student/ candidate once the examination has commenced “
Walusimbi was found guilty for communicating with Tungason Tumwebaze during the Human Resource Management Paper and also for copying from his booklet, while Namiiro is guilty for communicating with Joshua Kamba during the Elements of Taxation exam and for also copying from his booklet.
Whereas Namiiro and Walusimbi denied having communicated during the exam, Tumwebaze and Kamba confessed to have aided them with their answer booklets to copy from.
