Makerere University Business School hosted a delegation from the University of Johannesburg on May 27, 2015. The five (5) man delegation that was received by the MUBS Deputy Principal Dr. Moses Muhwezi included Prof. Carl Marnewick, Prof. Chris Rensleigh, Prof. Mornay Robwerts- Lombard and Mr. Joel Arthur. This visit was an exploration of potential Pan -African Knowledge creation and also to expand their knowledge of the Uganda’s education system as well as discuss future collaborations.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ), is one of the largest, multi-camps, residential universities in South Africa well as Makerere University Business School, is the largest Business School in the East African region with over 15,000 students. Dr. Muhwezi emphasized the need for collaborations, student and staff exchange programmes in Universities. “A University worth it’s salt should look for collaborations all over the globe. The student and staff exchange programmes are healthy in a globalised world. It is a key component in the internationalization agenda of Makerere University Business School as stipulated in the School’s Strategic Plan,” he said. In the context of a globalised world, MUBS receives international visitors who give lectures on global issues to students and staff to understand the world beyond their borders. The delegation also engaged in a discussion with the Deans of faculty. Chaired by the Dean Faculty of Management and Public Policy Dr. Annet Nabatanzi K. Muyimba, the two institutions discussed the areas of, possible collaboration and these include:

• Teaching and learning- this will include co-authoring of papers by staff of both universities.
• Joint Research
• Sharing common beliefs on Pan Americanism through intellectual discourse,
• Dual qualification offerings and student and staff exposure.
