Prof. Balunywa had a meeting with new administrative and academic staff talking primarily about planning their careers but more importantly building a sense of responsibility among themselves in order to contribute to the image MUBS has out there in the public. He told the staff that as the youngest people in the organization, the organization belongs to them but they had to map their career right from the start. He said that MUBS was the only institution that provided opportunity to young people not only to undertake masters degrees but also take professional programmes. He said that this has enabled MUBS to build a very strong workforce that was of a very high quality. Talking to the newly recruited academic staff, he said every academic staff in MUBS now had an opportunity to undertake a PhD. He said that six years back MUBS did not have the capacity to train its own staff at the doctoral level but it had now built sufficient capacity to supervise all those that wanted to do a PhD. He said that the school has to avoid inbreeding and therefore it will send some staff to universities abroad. He said that there was nothing wrong in staff leaving to go and work elsewhere since this training was for the nation however he said that those who left should always think positively about MUBS and support it.
