On June 29, 2015, MUBS launched the construction of the Faculty of Computing at the MUBS Nakawa campus. This construction is a project of the African Development Bank known as the ADB Education V. (HEST) Project. Speaking at the launch, the Resident Representative of African Development Bank Mr. Jeremiah Mutonga said that beneficiary institutions like Busitema University, Gulu University, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Muni University and Uganda Management Institute, will contribute 4% to the project through activities like project design. Mr. Mutonga further said that the ADB Education V (HEST) Project will add value to the middle economic migration of the country.
The Project Manager Eng. John Omeke, said that the project is funded by the government of Uganda and also a loan from ADB. He said that the project jasa interior is estimated to cost approximately 7bn shillings. “This will increase the penetration of ICT in MUBS, enhance the establishment of innovations and research, placement of students for industrial training as well as an incubation centre,” noted Eng. Omeke.
MUBS Principal Prof. Waswa Balunywa thanked ADB for the project. He said that the project is much appreciated by MUBS and will help take MUBS to greater heights once it is completed. “I take this opportunity to thank African Development Bank for having chosen MUBS to benefit from this project.”
The construction that is going to be done by Ambitious Contactors is expected to take a year and will be through by June 2016. The Faculty building will house lecture halls, conference room, offices, an incubation centre and computer laboratories among others.
